How to Fix a Stuck Tub Diverter (Hard Water Mineral Build Up)
Is your shower diverter having an identity crisis? If it’s getting harder and harder to push down—or stuck in the “on” position entirely—you don’t have to keep buying new faucets.
Items you will need:
Rotary Tool – https://geni.us/trtx3Wb (amazon)
Drill – https://geni.us/t23wp (amazon)
Cutting rotary bit – https://geni.us/S3j5Szz
Diamond Rotary Bit – https://geni.us/yNTByP
In this video, I’m sharing the “Hindsight 101” method for fixing a jammed tub diverter caused by hard water mineral buildup. After getting tired of hiring plumbers to replace the same part every few months, I found a way to use a simple rotary tool (like a Dremel) to grind away the buildup and slightly widen the guide hole. It’s a 20-minute fix that has lasted me over a year without a single issue!
In this video, we cover:
-The Problem: Why hard water minerals make your diverter stick.
-The Tools: Using a rotary tool (Dremel or Teccpo) vs. a standard drill.
-The Bit Selection: Why a 1/8 inch router bit works better than a standard drill bit.
-The Process: How to safely grind away buildup without ruining the faucet.
-The Budget Fix: How I did this for under $5 without a water softener.
