Stuck Moen Cartridge? 3D Print Your Own Removal Tool for FREE!
Stop waiting days for expensive tools!
In this video, I’m showing you how to solve one of the most frustrating plumbing repairs—removing a stuck Moen shower or faucet cartridge—using the power of 3D printing. Whether it’s midnight and the hardware stores are closed or you just want to save money, you can now print your own professional-grade removal tools at home.
What’s Included:
• Moen 1222 Shower Cartridge Tool: Designed with “visibility windows” so you can see exactly what you’re doing and line up the valve body perfectly.
• Faucet Nut/Ring Removal Tool: An improved design featuring a clip-on T-handle rod (so you don’t lose it!) and a built-in hex nut for use with a ratchet or adjustable wrench.
• The AI Workflow: I share my experience using AI to help design these tools in OpenSCAD without needing to be an AutoCAD expert.

Hardware Needed:
To complete the tool, you’ll just need a few cheap items from your local hardware store:
• 1x #10-24 Threaded Rod: If you prefer a more compact tool, a standard hacksaw can be used to cut the rod to your preferred length. Just be sure to file the ends or run a nut over the cut to keep the threads clean.
o 6-inch rods work perfectly for standard extractions. https://geni.us/qULfm
o 8-inch rods are also compatible and are often easier to find. https://geni.us/qTDk4
• 1x 1/4″ SAE Stainless Steel Washer: https://geni.us/daBmlWW
• 1x #10-24 Nut/Wing Nut: You can use a standard Hex Nut (best for using a wrench) or a Wing Nut if you prefer a tool-free, hand-tightened setup.
